ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Catherine Webb-Robinson is studying towards her PhD in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland. She is privileged to work with the precious resource of human and rodent brain tissue. Outside of the laboratory, she has many passions. These include playing the flute, helping students discover a love for medical science in her role as a tutor, and going on outdoor adventures with her husband, David. She is always happy if she is baking something or patting a dog.
Catherine will give an engaging introductory tour of the diversity of neurological disorders. She will touch on the unique ways they affect brain function and highlight the vital importance of future funding for research breakthroughs. She will share some of her passion for Alzheimer’s disease research and present insights into how insulin resistance impairs the brain’s resilience in this common and devastating disease.
